Today we will be reviewing Demon’s Crystals. First, I would like to give a special thanks to Byte4Games for a review copy of the game. This game is a Shoot em’ up game with action always happening. There are a total of twenty seven levels and three of which are boss levels. The game is five dollars and it’s well worth the money if you like duel stick shooters. There are a total of three modes you can play.
ARCADE: This is where you can play as any four characters which are named Adora, Dryad, Anara and Taur. There are no advantages of being one over the other. Like I said earlier there are a total of twenty-seven levels including three of them being boss levels. First playthrough of the campaign takes roughly 3-6 hours depending on how well you play Shoot em’ up type of games. After that completing the arcade missions you might treat yourself to a higher difficulty. Theirs three difficulties which are Normal which is what your defaulted to, Hard and Extreme. If you felt it was to easy on Normal you’ll be able to kick it up a notch and see how good you really are with Hard or Extreme difficulty.
Multiplayer: This game does have multiplayer. However, it’s not online multiplayer but instead its couch co-op. There are six total game modes in which they all offer a variety of play styles you and a couple friends can play. The first game mode is Survival. In survival you just need to survive as long as you can picking up power ups to get an edge over your teammate whom you’re in competition with whoever dies first loses. Theirs also Versus which is a team version of survival. Next up we have Death match which is straight up free for all. Also included is Crystal Quest in which you must collect as many crystals as possible. Then you have Seize the Large Crystal, which is when you must destroy the barrier of a large crystal before your opponent does. Lastly, there is Kill the Enemies. In this game mode, the objective is to kill as many enemies without having a gnome touch you. If a gnome touches you your score resets.
Achievements: The games achievements aren’t that bad. There are three difficulty based achievements which are for the three difficulties that are in arcade. However, there is a lot of grinding if you’re looking for that 1,000 Gamerscore. If you have the will to go through hours of farming for 150,000 crystal and 100,000 kills then the achievement list isn’t that bad.
Overall Review: For a $5 game, it is worth the cost. It offers 10-18 hours of gameplay if your trying to beat arcade on all difficulties. Plus whenever you have friends over you can play a local game of multiplayer up to four players. I would rate this game a 7/10 due to the fact once you complete arcade there really isn’t much else to do unless you have friend over to play the local multiplayer with.
Final Score - 7/10
