Songbringer Review

Songbringer is a sci-fi action RPG with swords, secrets, dungeons, bosses and stuff. Reminds of a game from the 80's like a Zelda reboot reminds me of playing earlier games on the game-boy.

Story.

You play the role of protagonist and accidental hero, Roq Epimetheos. With a propensity for partying and making music, he cruises the galaxy with his sky bot Jib aboard the ship Songbringer, searching for verdant planets absent the presence of galactic police. When Roq finds the Nanosword hidden in a cave on Ekzerra, he unwittingly awakens an ancient evil…

Gameplay.

Playing as Roq Epimetheos in this 8-bit 80's style retro game which reminds me of playing zelda on the game-boy all the controls are laid out very easily on screen and every time you collect a new weapon for your arsenal, it will explain to you what the controls are for this weapon, there is no set thing for you to do apart from find dungeons clear them out and beat bosses to escape from the dungeon and move on to the next to wipe out the evil you have accidental awakened, you also have your sky-bot friend Jib with you who can take a certain amount of hits from the enemy, also after you defeat enemies jib will scan them and make random collectables pop up on screen that can range from courage to bombs which are very useful in certain parts of the game.

Presentation.

Songbringer really brings me back to the days of playing 8-bit games which I loved to do, the developer really hit home with the retro feel of being back in the 80's playing early games of Zelda, it really took me back to them good memories, there is not any voices for the characters, but all text is displayed on screen, can be difficult to read some bits like when it’s raining and there are some enemies that you seem be unable to defeat, unless I just haven't worked out how to get past them

There are 32 achievements totalling up to 1000 gamer score, there are achievement's that will be easy to come by and there is also other's where you will have to put in work and effort to collect them all.

Final Take.

Songbringer is a well presented 8-bit style Zelda boot from the 80's I’m sure everyone will have loads of fun playing this game, if you’re an achievement you will keep going back for more to collect all the achievements.
